Overview

This executive leadership role is accountable for all aspects of business unit growth, profit and performance.  Leading an experienced team of business development, commercial operations experts, creates operating budgets, P&L, pricing, and growth goals for this $90M+ segment of the corporation. Key talent oversight includes VP of Operations, VP Warehousing and Archives, VP Sales & Business Development, Director Global Inside Sales, Customer Service Manager.

Responsibilities

Growth and Growth Strategy

  • Develops a sales organization that consistently delivers profitable growth in customer and shipment count in all key customer categories (Office Moving, Warehousing and Archives, Technology Services, and Final Mile services).
  • Instills CRM disciplines that provide actionable metrics in all areas of sales and client relations.
  • Engages with marketing leadership to provide a synchronized sales and marketing strategy.

 

Talent Development and Succession Planning

  • Fosters internal talent to produce strong candidates for critical roles.
  • Develops external talent network to provide a consistent pipeline of high potential talent targets.
  • Works with Talent Development leadership to ensure comprehensive training and development of talent resources.
  • Works collaboratively with Talent Development leadership to maintain and develop career pathing for all employees.
  • Embraces the global staffing model to reduce turnover and optimize labor spend.

Industry Intel / Innovation

 

  • Identifies high impact industry events and organizations to maximize JK exposure and prospects, establishes success metrics, and assigns participants.
  • Establishes an industry network to stay current on trends and significant events.

P&L Performance and Improvement

  • Reviews current FP&A and business intelligence platform and makes recommendations for enhancements.
  • Performs monthly financial reviews with key stakeholders to assure budgets are exceeded and improvements are continual.
  • Ensures accurate financial, budgeting, and forecasting for financial, accounting, new and existing businesses and A/R.
  • Instills a highly disciplined approach to expense management, motivating all team members to identify and eliminate waste.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintains leadership accountability and oversight of the 24/7 operation that includes multiple warehouses totaling 250,000+ sq. feet, secondary field office locations and extensive state-of-the-art transportation fleet.
  • Operations, distribution and supply chain solutions for B2C and B2B client bases.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction, operational excellence, cost controls, and profitability.
  • Reconfirms that all non-negotiable standards of operations and execution are consistently administered by all customer facing team members.
  • Maintains a culture of continuous improvement based on quantitative measures in all areas.

Risk Management

 

  • Embraces a safety culture and monitors performance in all key safety metrics.  Maintains a culture of continuous improvement in all safety disciplines.
  • Engages global supply chain to confirm contractual compliance with all outside vendors.
  • Communicates and works collaboratively with internal shared service providers (HR, Accounting, IT, Safety & Compliance, Supply Chain, Marketing) to ensure all areas of the business are running efficiently and optimally.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with strong business acumen.
  • Transportation/logistics management and commercial services.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of senior leadership experience responsible for the profitable execution and growth of service lines, operations, warehousing and business development.
  • Experienced managing a budget of $30M+, expense controls, pricing models, quality assurance, customer care, DOT regulatory compliance, etc.
  • Extensive background in metrics-based performance analysis, planning, technical automation, personnel management, financial planning and analysis, and contracts administration.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills consistent with a multifaceted business lines and collaborative working relationships.
  • Relationship management with current and potential clients/customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with strong verbal and written communication.
  • Detailed and customer-centric approach to business practice and sustainable outcomes.
  • An innovative out-of-the-box thinker, visionary and operational excellence facilitator.
